Alissa is a Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula, as well as a Newborn Care Specialist. She has a passion for supporting moms through some of the biggest moments in their lives and it is her hope to support and empower you and your family through this continued journey.
Like most new moms before her, Alissa learned about her needs and those of her babies the challenging way. Reading books and taking advice from others was all she had as she journeyed through each unique pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience of her own two littles.
While that might be the end of the story for some, Alissa was determined more than ever to learn how she might be able to serve others while sharing her experiences and being the best mom, she could be. With that goal in mind, Alissa left her promising corporate career behind and started her pursuit of early childhood and parent education.
After obtaining her basic and advanced Early Childhood Education at UCLA, Alissa began to serve as both an early childhood parent educator and lead teacher for a local cooperative preschool. At this school, the social and emotional needs of the littles always come first, which is why Alissa has remained passionate about working there for the past 19 years.
Through her time in early childhood education, Alissa has also received training in multiple disciplines including Brain Gym, Parent Effectiveness Training (PET), Parenting from the Heart, and Early Childhood Development in Reggio Emilia, Italy.
She loves to garden and loves kids. In fact, her favorite type of gardening is helping moms with the seeds they have planted, being along their side to watch them sprout and working together to help them bloom.
Alissa brings an awareness and tenderness for those who need and deserve spiritual, physical, and emotional care during this time. This is not a luxury, but a necessity that all women need and deserve.

Where do I even begin?
Alissa was everything I needed and more.
I booked her when I was pregnant to help for a couple weeks. Needless to say those couple weeks turned into a couple months. I wish I found her earlier, she would have made the best birth doula too.
You’re not getting JUST support with Alissa, you’re getting a mom, a friend, and someone that can help you with your new baby.
I feel so close with her. We have shared so many memories that I don’t have with anyone but her. It’s wild to be so vulnerable with someone you don’t know. It immediately creates this bond that’s irreplaceable.
I couldn’t ask for a more nurturing and gentle postpartum doula.
I had a traumatic birth and Alissa was there to nourish me inside and out. Even her pushing me to sit in the sun or take a shower was huge. When our contract was up I felt myself slipping into a dark place. She was always there with text support and even spoke with my husband to help guide him. We quickly rehired her for that additional support and now I’m back to seeing colors. Thank you sweet Alissa. My baby and I couldn’t have done this with out you. (I’m not crying as I type this. Jk I am.) I wasn’t planning on baby 2 but if I do, it’s only because I’ve hired Alissa for 8 weeks! - Sofia D.
Ugh where to start... there is NO way I could have gotten through labor without Alissa. Alissa was fist my daughters preschool teacher (her understanding of childhood develop is unparalleled) and when she made the change to become a birth worker I knew I had to have her on our brith team to welcome our new baby.
With my first baby I wanted to go all natural, but had zero support and honestly didn't think I needed anyone. Boy was I wrong!! You need someone to advocate for you so you can focus on your birth. This time around I knew I wanted a different experience. I knew this time I needed support.
This time I chose to birth at south coast midwifery. Alissa recommended our Hypno birthing instructor (Modern mama Hypno birthing), and our chiropractor (momma's chiro) and our pelvic floor therapist (resorted physique) I truly believe that All of these incredible woman helped make my pregnancy, labor and delivery, and recovery so much easier. It was wonderful to not have to do research and have Alissa's recommendations. I know that she will only recommend providers who truly care about their patients and are fantastic at their job.
Alissa was always there to answer my questions and false labors lol. When the day finally came, Alissa coached us through what to do during early labor. She provided the emotional support that I needed until it was time for her physical support. As soon as she got to her house she was ready to go squeezing my hips almost immediately providing the relief that I needed.
She knew exactly what my birth preferences were, and when I couldn't speak during labor she made sure that my midwife was on the same page with us as well. Alissa was also an amazing support for my husband. This time around he played a very active role in my labor but sometimes he needed a break and Alissa was right there to relieve him and provide him with the emotional support as well. She always knew exactly what to say to keep me going. I couldn't have imagined welcoming our baby with anyone else by our side.
When things took an unexpected turn (baby was stuck in my pelvis) Alissa was right there calm and collected, taking direction from my midwife while still supporting me emotionally and physically. She played a very large role in getting my little one out safely. She was familiar with shoulder dystocia and knew just what to do. Her extensive knowledge in birth, postpartum and lactation make her invaluable. I love you Alissa! Highly recommend hiring her. - Asma W.
